Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Olive! I’m a wiggly and happy-go-lucky kind of lady. I love taking long walks and exploring the world around me. Now that I’m older and my energy level has settled down a bit, I confess that laying out in the sunshine makes me just as happy! But really, as long as I’m around one of my human friends, I’m one content pup.

Sometimes I’ll get a spurt of energy and feel a need to be playful – but after a couple of throws playing fetch, I’m ready to get back to cuddling. As a senior, I know what things in life are important: belly-rubs, pets, and tasty treats. I have a lot of love to give and would be so happy to find myself a family to share that with during my golden years.

I am such a fun loving dude! My name is Tonto!! I would love to meet you and just hang out. I love the large play yard and walks, and running with some volunteers. I am working on my commands, and manners, as I am in the Comeback Canine program….this is a training program with our trainers at Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary. I love hanging out in the offices and playing with toys. I am probably not the dog to have in a home with kitty cats.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hold onto your heart because THIS girl is about to capture it!  This is Daisy and she is a super sweet kitty who came to us with two kittens in tow. She’s done raising them, though, and now its her time to shine!  This beautiful girl is super affectionate and just can’t get close enough to her people!  She chirps and talks to you like she knows exactly who you are saying!  If you meet her, we’re pretty sure you won’t want to leave without her!

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Hi, we are a bonded pair.  I’m Heidi and I’m the gray and white kitten. My name is Raven and I have the lovely black fur.  We met at Carol’s ferals in November.  We are a bit shy but we are never very far apart. If you have room for a couple of furry friends. Come see us on Sunday!

Hi, I’m Mau Mau. I am a sweet boy who loves to talk! I get along well with my friends here but would really love a home of my own. I got my name because of the way I sound when I meow. Come and see me soon.

You are invited to a Valentine’s party at Carol’s Ferals. 4600 Knapp St NE this Sunday, from 2pm – 5pm. Hope to see you there!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Hey there! My name is Pepe and my foster family thinks I’m pretty fantastic! I’m about 6 years old, housebroken, and fully vetted. I’m a Chihuahua, which makes me awesome, and I’m good with cats and dogs. I’m happy go lucky and I really enjoy being by my humans. I haven’t been around children in my foster home, but I will likely do fine with older, respectful children. Warm blankets, beds, and cuddling are what makes my world go ‘round! He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $200. To adopt Pepe apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/

Ruka is such a honey, look at her beautiful, big brown eyes! This sweetheart is very smart, energetic, affectionate and she loves to please her humans. Ruka is a 2 year old German Shepherd mix who weighs 60 pounds. She’s house trained and crate trained and already knows basic commands. She is a great listener and she’s eager to learn new things! Ruka would benefit from a more active home; she loves her walks and she loves to play. After she’s done playing, she is the most affectionate little cuddle bug. She loves kids and gets along with other dogs. This beautiful girl is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her shots, and ready to meet you! Her adoption fee is $200.
