Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hey there, I’m Cletus! One of the most handsome hounds at Mackenzie’s!

In addition to my good looks, you may have heard about my absolutely legendary cuddles – I’m one of the best snuggle bugs MAS has to offer. Sometimes I can be shy with new people, but anyone will tell you, my love is worth the wait!….and it doesn’t take long at all, I promise!

Since I’m shy at first with new people and new things, a quiet and laid-back home would be best for me. I’d prefer to be the only pet in the home since I can be pretty picky about my four-legged friends. Once I’m comfortable with my new environment and after I’ve built up trust & confidence with my new family and home, I might be up for more adventures. I’m a perfect gentleman on car rides, so taking me out an about would be a fun time fore me! I’m happy to lounge around on the couch, but I’d also be interested in checking out hiking trails and tapping into my hound senses. But for now, walks, snuggles, and movie nights are some of the things I like best.

Now that colder weather is here, everyone needs a cuddle buddy – and that could be me! Fill out an application and mention me!

“You would be one lucky person to call Zuko your forever friend. I know, I know, I’m partial to this amazing boy. He captured my heart as soon as I met him. He enjoys sitting on my lap while I try to work on the computer, as you can see from the pictures. Or, if he can’t get on my lap, he will squeeze in behind me. He is super silly and to say he loves affection would be an understatement! When he gets excited, he sounds like a little pig and when he sleeps, he has the cutest snore. He has never had an accident in the office, and is very polite to anyone that comes in. He is an outstanding boy; I hope he meets his forever person very soon.”

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Ford is a very special boy with the kindest heart, the scrunchiest most squeezable face, and the happiest presence. He is always ready to play, cuddle, snack and give smooches. We adore him and his loving energy. Ford is a 40 pound, 2 year old Boxer Mix who came to our Rescue from our good friends at Detroit Animal Care and Control. He is doing a fantastic job with his crate training and house training, and he does very well with dogs that meet his energy level. Despite his sad past, he loves meeting new people and making new friends – he has so much love to share with the Earth. Ford is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots.  His adoption fee is $250. To adopt Ford apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Merle is ready for spring.  He’s over the cold but looks so fancy in his winter gear!  This  40 pound, 1 year old Staffy mix with the cutest brown eyes would love to snuggle up and keep you warm.   We’re pretty sure he’s in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s Snuggliest Dog.  Merle has overcome a terribly rough start to his young life.   He has gained so much confidence and become such a brave guy.  When he is unsure he looks to a dog or a human he trusts to reassure him.  And Merle is a cat guy, too.  He asked us to make sure you know he’s also a hot dog guy.  Merle would prefer not to spend the whole day alone but is crate trained for those times when you are away.  This sweet boy is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $250. To adopt Merle apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
