Game 82: Cavalier Approach
Virginia’s Dontayvion Wicks pulled in the short pass from QB Brennan Armstrong and danced his way along the sidelines for 44-yard touchdown–the lone offensive highlight of the night for either team–as the Cavaliers defeated the Yellow Jackets 16-9. Georgia Tech punted 10 times and replaced QB Jeff Sims with Zach Gibbons at the half. But neither quarterback could get GT into the end zone.
In contrast, Thursday night’s NFL game was a shootout, Arizona downing the Saints 42-34. The Cardinals broke the game open near the end of the first half with two pick-6s off Andy Dalton. Dalton did throw for 4 touchdowns for New Orleans in a losing effort.
On the GridCard, KDet047 (41) put up a TallBoy and earned King of the Mountain his third KOTM of the year. MW (37) won a Rollover on the ProGrid Tour. Only five other players posted Qualifying Scores: Kara (33), maryalene (33), KMac (33), dangerzone (32), and macs detail (32). KMac (75) won the week with a monster King Kong.
After winning their first nine games, the PGT suffered their third straight defeat, falling to Team Detwiler 74-69, KDet047 (41) and Kara (33) earning Gm82 point honors. Fictionasy beat Team Collins 54-51, JD (28) and Zeke (26) getting the split. Lowell’s First Look took the nightcap from VBar 54-51, maryalene (33) and ElmerGlueGun (21) scoring for LFL. And TMac torched the OG 65-48 behind KMac (33) and macs detail (32).

Game 81: Rocky Topped
A wild ending in Knoxville ended 15 years of Tennessee misery. Both the Volunteers and Crimson Tide scored a pair of 4th quarter touchdowns, but kicking ultimately decided the game. After Alabama’s Will Reichard missed from 50 yards out with :15 left, Tennessee’s Chase McGrath connected from 40 yards away as time expired giving the Vols the 52-49 win, their first win over Alabama since 2006.
On the GridCard, KMac (42) earned King of the Mountain, his second KOTM of the year. KMac’s TallBoy was just a little bigger than mac’s (40). Seven other players posted Qualifying Scores: LD (36), Teunesto (36), Limb Lam (35), Bubba (33), EricCinTexas (32), Mr. Jake 50 (31), and btalkington20 (30).
VBar put up the high score in Team GridCard beating LFL 76-42 behind mac (40) and LD (36). Team Collins defeated Fictionasy 62-52, EricCinTexas (32) and btalkington (20) leading the way. TMac got scoring from KMac (42) and Nutmeg (27) to earn the win over the OG 69-58. And Lim Lamb (35) and Mr. Jake 50 were Top2 for Team Detwiler who snapped the PGT win streak at ten, 66-60.
