We received the following press release regarding Gina Johnsen’s candidacy for the 78th District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Lake Odessa, Michigan [March 22, 2022] Gina Johnsen is filing today to run for the State House of Representatives – District 78. Gina believes that her background in small business, her leadership in organizations such as the Michigan Capitol House of Prayer, her more than 20 years as a “Citizen Lobbyist” and her experience in Senate Legislative Policy make her uniquely qualified to serve in the State Legislature. Gina understands the sincere desire of Michigan voters for more transparency in state government and knows that she can “move the needle” positively when she is serving in the House of Representatives.
The newly carved out District 78 includes parts of Eaton, Barry, Ionia, and Kent Counties. Gina Johnsen’s background includes:
- Small Business Owner, healthcare business and financial services
- Former Legislative Policy Director for the MI Senate
- Founding Member and Director of MICHOP, Michigan Capitol House of Prayer – 12 years
- Executive Director of Pregnancy Center of Eaton County
- Citizen Lobbyist for over 20 years in Michigan; training others to do the same
- Board of Directors for House of Promise, home for women exiting human trafficking situations
Johnsen quotes an article this month in MLIVE that highlights that The Center for Public Integrity ranked Michigan 50th among all states in government transparency. This Lake Odessa business woman is confident that she has the will, skill, and integrity to help restore transparency to Michigan!
According to her address filing, she lives at 411 Pineview in Lake Odessa. That home is not a rental and is lived in by Catherine Griffin and William Zick. I would propose that Ms. Johnsen has misrepresented her residency in District 78. She does not live in that home
