Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Thor is a fitting name for this big hunk! He is strong, adventurous, and hilarious! Sometimes he can get a little excited and forget his size. His new family should be patient and consistent to help him fine tune his manners. He’s getting better but needs a little work still.

He would love to go to an active home that will take him on fun adventures! He is great with kids but would be best in a home with older ones due to his size and energy level. He has made several doggy friends at MAS and would be so happy to have the opportunity to make some new friends when he goes home! (No cats though!)

His name is Thor, but he is the one looking for a hero. Thor has so much love to give. There is no doubt, he is one of those dogs that leaves an unforgettable impression. If you are interested in meeting Thor, please apply today!

DaVinci is as sweet and smart as they come! While he can be quite excitable at the Sanctuary, once he gets away from the kennel is a real gem. He was fostered for quite a long time and became the picture-perfect companion. He was relaxed and well-mannered and simply lived for snuggles and love. DaVinci thrived in his foster home with other dogs, they bolstered his confidence. He needs a person willing to give him the time he needs to decompress and establish a healthy, positive relationship. He can be timid at first when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up. In a calm environment, his true colors shine brightly, and he becomes the loving cuddle bug he was always meant to be. He just needs to be given the chance to reach his full potential. DaVinci also loves going for care rides and has even had an exciting trip to the salon with his favorite volunteer.

DaVinci would do best in a home with other dogs, with no cats or young children. Slow introductions are best when he meets new dogs and people. DaVinci is truly a dog that has a lot of potential and sadly doesn’t flourish in a hectic kennel environment. If you think you can provide him with the nice, calm home environment he needs, please apply today!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Agnes is a 13 week old pitbull type mix of some kind.  She’s currently about 20 pounds but she is tall so it’s hard to say just how big she will get.  But here’s what we know FOR SURE about her.  Agnes has never met a person she didn’t like … which she shows you by showering you with kisses.  She loves dogs of all ages and sizes.  She does just fine with cats.  And she LOVES toys … all the toys … all the time.  She is super smart and food motivated which is a great training combination!  She’s doing great in her crate overnight, she complains a little at first but settles in and sleeps through the night.  She’s come a long way with potty training, but as with any puppy her age, she will want a family to help her refine the progress she’s making.  Agnes is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $300. Apply to adopt Agnes at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Wendy is a 24 pound, 2 year old Terrier Mix who came to our Rescue from our good friends at Genessee County Animal Control. She is doing a fantastic job with her crate training and house training, and she does very well with cats and dogs. She loves her doggie roomies !! Wendy is a very affectionate cuddle bug; and she uses her floppy radar ears and gorgeous brown eyes to reach new levels of cuteness every day. It’s ridiculous, the amount of cuteness. Tom Hardy levels of cute. Wendy’s favorite napping location is her human’s neck – so be ready for that lovable cuteness. Wendy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $250. To adopt Wendy apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
