Furry Friday

While local shelters are not actively doing adoptions at this time, they are still taking applications for their available pets.   Some are processing them and contacting potential adopters by phone and email.  If you see a cat or dog you’re interested in, contact the organization directly to see what they are doing during this stay at home order.

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process. And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats and dogs looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Aurora is a super sweet and slightly nervous girl. She was found running the roads. Toys are her favorite things as well as really good treats. She may be a little nervous at first, and possibly not the best fit for a home with small children. She seems to like other dogs, but has not had a cat introduction yet.

I’m Flower. Even though I love my name, everyone loves a good nickname! The staff and volunteers here will sometimes call me “Love bug” because that’s exactly what I am! I came to MAS with my 9 pups, and all of us are ready to find ourselves forever homes. If you’re on the look out for a top of the line cuddler with a goofy playful side, look no further!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Cami is a two-year old Terrier Mix. She weighs fifteen pounds and is a beautiful, sweet girl. She came to us from down South and was Heartworm positive but she is on her final and treatment and doing great. Cami is super smart and would prefer to be the only pup as she is quite competitive and loves attention. She could be trained for so many things as she loves to learn and be active. She loves playing fetch and going for walks. She is great on a leash and listens well and understands basic commands. She is housebroken and is currently using a dog door. She is also crate trained. Not sure how she is with kids but she has never shown any aggression. She will bark if someone knocks on the door as she is protective. She may not be good with cats as she does chase small animals. A fenced in yard would be preferred as she does tend to chase squirrels and rabbits. Cami is a joy and would add love and fun to any home. She is spayed, Up to date on vaccines and chipped. Her adoption fee is $200.

Meet Milo, an ultra-affectionate Jack Russell Terrier mix weighing 17 pounds! Milo is eager to find his forever family to join him on long walks through parks, on sidewalks, or just about anywhere that’s outside. He is 8-9 years old, neutered, up-to-date on shots, house trained, and crate trained. We’ve found that Milo’s last master didn’t quite teach him verbal commands, but he is quickly learning new commands like come and sit in his foster home. It shouldn’t be too difficult to teach this pup a few new tricks! Milo is as pure-spirited as they come and enjoys the simple joys of neck scratches and face rubs. Medium to long walks are essential for premium happiness, and he doesn’t pay any mind to cats. We haven’t had Milo around dogs or children so but that can be arranged! Milo has nothing but love to give, and that’s all he wants in return from his forever home. His adoption fee is $200, and you can apply to adopt Milo at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
