Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Cinnamen is one of the sweetest, happiest dogs around. She greets everyone with a wiggly, tail-wagging hello that is sure to make even the grouchiest grump grin. She came to Mackenzie’s with heartworm but now that her treatment is behind her, it’s time to find her forever home!

While she can be full of energy and excitement, most of the time she is content to just find a warm spot on her cozy bed or sneak onto someone’s lap.

Due to her heartworm treatment, she hasn’t had the chance to meet many dogs yet, but she hasn’t acted poorly to the ones she has met. She has done well with meeting kids (8 years +). She would be best in a home without cats though.

Cinnamen is a sweet girl that truly deserves a loving forever home. Apply today!

Lance is a handsome boy. He can’t quite seem to get the tip of his ear to stand straight but he doesn’t let that get to him. Lance can be very calm and stoic until suddenly that calm breaks and his playful side bursts through. He loves to run as fast as he can, and he especially loves water. He’s a verbal player which makes him sound more intimidating than he actually is. He is super smart and knows many commands. He even completed training courses with his previous owners. Since he is a little more mature than some, he is quite confident and independent but he’s not too proud to try to sit on your lap and cuddle.

He is also great with children. He lived with a teenage girl before and loved her very much. He also has been introduced to a 10-year-old child and was very respectful. He wanted attention and listened to commands when given. He loves toys, especially tennis balls, but can be a little hard on them so be sure to stock up!

If Lance sounds like the dog for you, please fill out an application!

My D.O.B. is 6/28/16. I am around 55 lbs.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

HI! My name is Jack, and my foster family says I am one special boy with the most beautiful l coloring! I am just over 3 months old and I will make one amazing family dog!  I came all the way up from Texas with my siblings! My mom was a purebred blue heeler and my dad was said to be a “shaggy dog.” I certainly will be a medium/large boy but I still plan to sit on your lap because I absolutely love to sit with/on my people. 😀 I also like to be held like a baby, I really trust my people?

I do really well in my crate for periods of time but I am an active boy so I need an active family and would like another dog in the home too if possible! My foster family has 2 dogs and I want to be with them all the time. They also have a cat, and I try to play with the cat, however I don’t understand why the cat doesn’t want to play back? The house cat has put me in my place a couple times and my foster mom said I did a good job learning my place and that the grumpy cat needs space.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE kids! My foster family has a 1.5 year old and 5 year old. I want to be with them all the time! They play fetch with me and I am getting really good at retrieving! Tennis balls are a must! I do fine with kids of all ages, however, I may accidentally knock the little ones because I get so excited and I don’t know my size.

My foster family is also so impressed that I do not have an aggressive bone in my body! I love everything and have not had any issues with food or resource guarding. I share all my things! I am also getting really good at being house trained! Sometimes I forget but I am so so close!  Jack’s adoption fee is $300. To adopt Jack apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Brutus is a Big, Burly, Beloved Bear with Big, Beautiful, Browns eyes. He is a perfect gentleman. His foster humans describe him as a big, goofy sweetheart who is really quite chill and super sweet. He brings so much love to everyone he meets. Brutus is a 76 pound, 8 year old Mastiff Mix who came to our Rescue from our good friends at Detroit Animal Care and Control. He is house trained, crate trained, and he does very well with cats, dogs and humans of all ages. Brutus is currently undergoing heart worm treatment; our Rescue is sponsoring this care with a local veterinarian practice. He will need a calm and supportive environment to see this treatment through. Brutus is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $200. To adopt Brutus apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
