Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Being a bit older, Kodi has learned to appreciate the little things in life and his favorite things are being outside and cuddling up with his people. The staff and volunteers have worked on his walking skills and even found that he is a great running partner. He can keep a pretty good pace but when it’s time to take a break he takes full advantage of relaxing. Kodi is of the mindset that sometimes it’s nice to just sit back and take it all in.

While I get to live out my dream every day of walks and playing outside, it all would be so much sweeter if I had a forever friend to wake up and hit the trails with. Fill out an application and mention me!

My birthday is 3/22/13

Hold on to your hats! Here comes Emma!

I am so full of energy and excitement for life now that I have had a second chance at finding a safe and loving home. I came to MAS heartworm positive, I was treatment and am now heartworm free. I had some knee repair work done recently as well, but have healed up completely. I am so ready to take on new adventures and live every day to the fullest! I would be happiest as the only pet in my new home. I just prefer to be the center of attention for my new family. And how could I not be? I am such a goofball, but I’m also super smart! . I have a hard time remembering my size and how active I am that small children in the home would not be the right fit for me. I am looking for a forever family that can find a walking route that is more secluded, where we can have one-on-one time to explore together. I get a bit distracted when I see other dogs, I forget that it isn’t polite to stop and stare….I have been practicing those manners with the staff and volunteers at MAS and have made some good progress. I am not always go-go-go though. I do like to wind down and relax too. I am a sweetheart, I love to give kisses and get attention from people. If you’d like to be my adventure buddy, submit an adoption application to get the ball rolling!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

We just love our sweet Tracker, he’s the best. He’s goofy, happy, lovable, loyal, easy and so cute !! He looks like someone spilled chocolate ice cream on his right eye – and just left it. Tracker is a 75 pound, 8 year old Staffy Mix who came to our Rescue from our good friends at Genessee County Animal Control. He is house trained, crate trained and does very well with dogs . He loves meeting new people, and he loves going on walks and putting his adorable nose to work. This sweet boy is going to fill a very lucky home with so much love. Tracker is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $175. To adopt Tracker apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Looking to turn your luck around?  Meet Blackjack (affectionately known at his foster home as Jax, Jaxy, Jaxy Boo, Jaxy Bear … you get the idea).  He was born on February 8 and currently weighs about seven pounds. This little guy was the smallest in his litter, but you would never know that from his personality.  He does everything 100%: Playing, snuggling, running, making new friends, and sleeping.  Jax LOVES kids and is happiest when he is out the yard with his pack of active children.  He’s already learning all the new puppy things and, like all puppies his age, will need a family to help him fine tune his potty training and leash walking.  He has already mastered crate training and sit!!  Jax is very respectful of the cats in his foster home and would do just fine with a dog friend but would also be perfectly happy as an only dog.  Jax is currently on his vaccines, neutered, and microchipped.  His adoption fee is $300 and you can apply to adopt him at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/

Holliday’s Exotic Avian Rescue Team

HEART specializes in rehoming birds when all other alternatives have been considered. Based in Lowell, birds are fostered primarily in Lowell or White Pigeon. Here are their pets of the week.

Moose is a 2 year old male pineapple green cheek conure. He is very sweet and loves to be out of his cage! He has had a previous male preference- however so far in our care is alright with everyone. Moose has had issues when bonding with another bird, so a single bird home or male bird only home is needed. If you think you would be a good fit, please fill out our adoption application. Moose does come with a cage.

Location: Lowell, MI
Adoption Fee: $250
