Incident Information Release: Fire on Godfrey

Incident Information release;

On Tuesday November 16, 2021 the Lowell Area Fire Department was called to a building fire on Godfrey, the 911 caller advised there were flames and smoke seen. Ada Fire Department was called as part of our automatic mutual aid set up, Chief Witherell also requested Cascade Fire respond with an engine. The first LAFD engine was on the scene in 4 min and found a fire coming from a roof top HVAC unit as well as smoke coming from the interior of the building. A request for an engine from Alto was also made. Crews quickly made access to the roof as well as in the building. The fire was contained to a small area of the building and the roof top unit.

The official cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The building has not been in operation since sometime in 2016 and is currently being cleared out to be used for warehouse space.

Crews were on scene for 3 hours. There were no injuries during this incident.

Lowell Area Fire Department, Ada Fire Department, Cascade Fire Department, Alto Fire Department, Lowell / Rockford Ambulance, Lowell Light & Power, and Consumers Energy
