Lowell Light & Power is Offering 100 Free Trees to Customers

We received the following press release from Lowell Light & Power.

Lowell Light & Power is excited to announce the launch of a new residential program called Energy-Saving Trees, which provides 100 FREE trees for customers to reserve and pick up.

Starting August 1, Lowell Light & Power residential customers can reserve their free tree at arborday.org/LLP, using the promo code included on their bill insert. Each customer can reserve one tree and plant it in the most strategic area as identified by the online mapping tool. While supplies last, tree species available are Eastern Redbud, Prairie Fire Crabapple, River Birch, October Glory Maple, and Pin Oak.

“We are excited to offer this program to our customers and help reduce energy costs,” said Lisa Pape, Utility Services Specialist at Lowell Light & Power. “The Energy-Saving Trees program is a great way to beautify our city and boost community health and happiness, by encouraging physical activity, reducing stress and blood pressure, improving mental well-being, and so much more.”

The Energy-Saving Trees online tool shares the annual energy savings that will result from planting trees in the most strategic location near customers’ homes. In addition to providing approximate energy savings, the online tool estimates the tree’s other benefits, including cleaner air, reduced carbon emissions and filtered storm water.

“This unique program benefits utility providers, their customers and the communities they serve by finding natural ways to conserve energy,” said Kristen Bousquet, program manager at the Arbor Day Foundation. “The right trees in the right place can help a homeowner save up to 20 percent on their electric bill.”

The program will continue until all 100 trees are reserved. Trees will be distributed at a Tree Pick-Up Event on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

LL&P customers with questions can call the Arbor Day Foundation at 855-234-3801 or email [email protected], or call the LL&P office at 616-897-8402.
