Lowell Township Board Recap: Short and Sweet Monday Meeting

The Lowell Charter Township Board had its regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 17th. It was short and sweet, clocking in at a little more than 15 minutes. All members of the Township Board were present.

Among the items that were discussed on the agenda were: Splash pad cost sharing agreement and the appointment of Jennette Stevenson to the Board of Review as a member for a two-year term.

“Eastgate Grand Slam”

Stevenson mentioned to the board that a community garage sale that will be occurring on the first Friday and Saturday of May (May 5-6). This sale can be found in the Eastgate neighborhood and Woodbushe, Cumberland, and Parnell Street area.

“This year we’ve got quite a few” people who will be participating, she said. There will be a food truck in the Eastgate area as well.

Splash Pad Cost Sharing Agreement

The board has seen drawn up specs of the splash pad proposed for the N. Riverfront Park. Once constructed, the splash pad is good for about 25 years.

According to a deed that the board received from Impact Church for use of land adjacent to the park, “If we ever cease to use it as a splash pad, it reverts back to” being owned by the church. However, if everyone is happy and is using the splash pad after 25 years, then they will renew the contract.

The cost sharing agreement is with the City of Lowell. The agreement was approved unanimously by the board. Lowell City Council approved the agreement last month.

Appoint Jennette Stevenson to the Board of Review

Stevenson was unanimously approved by the board of trustees. Jim Porsche stepped down.
