LOWELL, MI, June 27, 2023 | LowellArts will present the award-winning pieces from all of the Festival Regional Arts Exhibition venues, including the winners of the Youth Art Exhibition, at its location in downtown Lowell. The Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts – Regional Arts Exhibition: Awards Show 2023 will be on display July 8 through August 12. The LowellArts Gallery is located at 223 W Main St, Lowell, MI 49331. Gallery hours are: Tuesday through Friday 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturday 12:00-5:00pm.
The public is invited to help celebrate this partnership and the award-winners at two special events. All are welcome, light refreshments will be served. An Opening Reception is scheduled for Sunday, July 9 from 2:00-4:00pm. A Closing Reception will be held Sunday, August 13 from 2:00-4:00pm.

Festival of the Arts is an annual three-day celebration of the arts, held in downtown Grand Rapids. This year’s celebration was held on June 2, 3, and 4. The first Festival in 1970 highlighted the 1969 installation of Alexander Calder’s La Grande Vitesse on what is now known as Calder Plaza. Today, Festival attracts thousands of families downtown, with the best area performers and artists, exhibits, activities for kids, and of course, great food.
Regional Arts Exhibition is part of the Festival celebration, and presents the best of West Michigan artists and their artwork. Professional jurors designate more than 40 awards and cash prizes. Many of the artworks are also for sale. This year’s exhibition took place at several premier galleries in and around Grand Rapids. Prizes totaling more than $12,000 were awarded to selected area artists for their work in the Festival 2023 Show.

Festival of the Arts and LowellArts began a partnership in 2022, by bringing all of the award-winning visual arts pieces from all of the Festival Regional Arts Exhibition venues together into one show at the LowellArts Gallery. This year, LowellArts has expanded its partnership with GR Festival for the Arts by sponsoring 10 monetary Partnership Awards for the Regional Arts Exhibition.
On display in the LowellArts Gallery will be approximately 80 pieces of artwork. All of the pieces on display received award recognition in the Festival Regional Arts Exhibition 2023 show. In addition, 6 award-winning pieces from the Festival Youth Art Exhibit will be on display – the full youth exhibit was shown Festival weekend and featured works by talented young people from area schools age 5 through 12th grade.
The original painting for the Festival 2023 poster will also be on display as part of the exhibition at LowellArts. The Festival 2023 poster will be available for purchase.
