LowellArts Players Opening Weekend for Rumors Begins

For three weekends, Larkin’s Other Place will be the destination for dinner theater patrons.  Opening night is this Friday. Doors open at 6pm. Dinner will be served at 6:30pm and the performance begins at 7:30pm.  Additional opportunities to be part of the audience are April 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 (matinée, no meal option), and May 3, 4, and 5.

The Plot
The story audience members will see unfold before their eyes is one of comic mystery.  It’s the evening of a gathering of friends to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of Charley and Myra.  It’s quickly determined something is amiss with the celebratory couple. One half is missing and the other is suspected to have attempted suicide without success.

As guests arrive, information is revealed to some but not others on purpose and by mistake.  All of the guests seemingly have something distracting them from the purpose of the evening. Will all of the guests figure out Myra has run away from her own party and why?  Will they find out why Charley tried to take his own life? What secrets will be revealed about other guests as they gather? Rumors, facts, and miscommunication are woven together through witty lines and quirky characters.  Add in a visit from two officers who become suspicious of happenings at the dinner party and who knows what will happen. The end result is a dinner theater comedy sure to leave the audience laughing out loud.

Returning Director, Cast, and Crew
Kim Miller returns as the director.  Last year at this time she was directing Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding.  She was also the state manager for LowellArts Youth Theater production of James and the Giant Peach earlier this year.  The final week of rehearsal before opening night is a time for finalizing costumes, becoming familiar with props and running through scenes without interruption.

The four couples attending the anniversary party include LowellArts Players veterans Matt Tawney, Laura Warsaw, John Foley, and John Butler.  Amy McDaniel, Janna Chesser, Josh Carpenter, and Coral Monje play other friends of the couple being celebrated. Peggy Parrish, Marcia DeVos, Ron Wood, and Dan Kantorowski make up the crew who work behind the scenes with props, costumes, lighting, music, and set design and construction.
