Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Robb! I am one of the most laid back guys you’ll ever meet! My favorite things are: cuddling with my humans, naps, and tasty treats. That’s it! I am pretty easy to please. I know some commands, and have my manners down too.

I was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and I’m given chemotherapy regularly for it. It doesn’t seem to slow me down at all! I still feel great and am the same happy go lucky boy that I’ve always been. I would love to go through treatment in a quiet home..

I’ll need a home without other pets, and have done well with older kids. In a perfect world, I’d find myself in a loving and laid back home, with a few humans to snuggle up with.

My name is Kelly. I was named after Kelly from “The Voice”. I was rehomed a couple times before I came here. I really do need a committed family the next time around. In spite of this, I am a sweet and loving lady, with a spunky and special personality. A steady, stable home that can show me what “the good life” is would be my absolute dream. I’ve made a few canine friends here so far. I love to run and play, and with some patience and guidance, would make a great addition to a family.

D.O.B. is 5-4-19

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Caper is a 20 pound, 5 year old Terrier Mix with a shaggy, adorable face – much like Tom Hanks in Castaway. And just like Tom Hanks in Castaway, he prefers to have his privacy and some space. Caper takes time to warm up to new people; he is protective of his humans. He would do best in a home without smaller children and one that has a Hulu subscription and possibly a hot tub. Caper does enjoy his doggie friends, and he really loves sharing his squeaky toys with his humans. He is very smart and does very well with commands, following instructions and Calculus. Caper is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $250. To adopt Caper apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Meet Henley; a 4.5 month old Staffordshire Terrier/American Bulldog/elephant mix (he is going to be a BIG boy when he’s done growing)! Henley is currently 45-50lbs, and is basically a baby packaged up in an adult’s body. He is an active boy, and is looking for an equally active family who enjoys hiking, biking, running, camping, and snuggling after a day of fun and adventure. Henley is crate trained, 99% potty trained, knows his basic commands and walks well on leash. His forever family will need to have dog experience and be committed to continuing his training; Henley is stubborn at times and not for the first time dog owner. He is smart and will thrive in an environment with consistency and routine, and a well adjusted dog-friend (who is his size or larger… not negotiable) to wrestle with and mentor him in how to be his best self. He would also do well as an only pet. No cats please! Kids aged 10 and older would be best with his baby-in-a-giant-body situation. A secure fenced yard is a requirement, and daily dog-adventures preferred! Henley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, and his adoption fee is $300.

Holliday’s Exotic Avian Rescue Team

HEART specializes in rehoming birds when all other alternatives have been considered. Based in Lowell, birds are fostered primarily in Lowell or White Pigeon. Here are their pets of the week.

Ozzy is an 18 year old Blue & Gold macaw. He is overweight and due to poor diet from his previous home he has quite a few fatty tumors. With a better diet and exercise(which has been started) those tumors will shrink but not completely go away. Ozzy needs someone who has patience as he has not been out of his cage much. He is very sweet and willing to please but needs someone to understand that it will take time for him to adjust. He is quiet for a macaw but that could change. He needs to remain on a healthy low fat diet and continue to be active to help with his weight. If you think that you would be a good fit, please fill out an application to get started.

Adoption Fee: $400
