The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Duke is a goofy cuddle bug with endless energy and a quick mind. He loves to run and play and has plenty of love to give. Duke would thrive in a home with an active family, jogging, running, hiking, swimming, he’s down for anything. Duke is an especially smart boy and with the right motivation (a handful of yummy treats) he is focused and responsive to training. We think he would thrive in an agility class. With some consistency and dedication, Duke could be a real king among dogs.

Duke would be most comfortable in a home with older teenage children or an adult family that can handle his zesty perception of life. He is a very fun, loving, and quirky boy, but should have a confident and experienced handler. He has made some canine playmates at MAS, but some dogs he would rather just co-exist and not interact with.

If Duke sounds like your kind of guy, submit an adoption application at the MAS website below to get the adoption process started!

Duke 2

When that little blue hedgehog said “I’m Sonic. A little ball of super energy, in an extremely handsome package…” he was talking about me.

A family with a fast paced lifestyle would be perfect for me; I would be a great candidate for a hiking buddy, a running partner, or even a jogging sidekick. After a fun adventure together, we can head home for an evening of backyard romps! We can host parties together and you can brag about how great your handsome new dog is, and I will show our guests my cool toys and we can hangout and it will be the best time!

I am very family oriented, although I do enjoy giving Ricky Bobby a run for his money, I appreciate down time just as much as anyone else. If cuddling is the name of the game, count me in! Full disclosure: I will have to make my rounds and test out who in our family is the best snuggler, I just need so much love I have to collect it from everyone before deciding to get settle in.

So what are you waiting for? Gotta go fast and submit your adoption application at the MAS website below before I am scooped up!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Hooch is the silliest dog in North America !! He’s so goofy and funny, we absolutely adore him and his hilarious antics. He is going to bring so much laughter and love to a very lucky home. Hooch is a 60 pound, 2 and a half year old Dogue De Bordeaux Mix – which is actually French for ‘Snacks and Snuggles’ his favorite two things. His facial expressions and hilarious sleep positions cause endless laughter in his foster home. He’s perfect. Hooch is house trained, crate trained, and he does very well with other dogs and humans of all ages. No cats. Hooch is undergoing heart worm treatment currently and will need a calm home to help him finish his care. The Rescue is sponsoring this treatment with a local veterinarian practice. Hooch is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $250. Sweet Dixie came into Hearts of Hope’s care after her owner passed away. She still is the happiest girl you will ever meet! Dixie is 13 years old, and is a typical older dog who sleeps a lot during the day. However, she does also like to get up and explore. Her ideal family would be home with her a lot during the day. She doesn’t mind other dogs or cats, but she is definitely a dog who loves people the most. She gives kisses to everyone she meets and is a GREAT cuddler. If you are looking for a dog to hang out with all day, Dixie is the girl for you! She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. She will also be getting a dental cleaning before she goes home! She is ready to find the perfect home to retire in! Her adoption fee is $175. Apply to adopt her at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
