Lowell Group Prior Noon Releases Summer Performance Schedule

Last year, Lowell band Prior Noon released the single “Catch 22” which was all about holding onto the feeling of what it’s like to be young and on the cusp of new adventures. Now, the group has released two new songs and is gearing up for a summer of performances throughout the region.

“After doing ‘Catch 22,’ we wanted to chip away at a six-song EP,” says Drew Struckmeyer, a band member who provides back-up vocals as well as plays the bass and banjo.

To do that, the group headed to Nashville to work with Ben Reno, a producer whose credits include singles and albums with artists such as Lady A, Loretta Lynn and Eli Lev. Struckmeyer said he found Reno online while searching for a producer with experience in the pop country genre that best describes Prior Noon’s style.

The result of the band’s work with Reno is two new singles: “Midnight Headlights” and “Sorry.”

Like all the band’s songs, these were a collaborative effort. “Someone comes up with a pretty solid idea and then everyone gets a chance to put in their own twists,” Struckmeyer says.

“Midnight Headlights,” for instance, came about after lead electric guitarist Nick Struckmeyer came up with a 30-second chord progression. His brother Drew then added lyrics and more melody while others pitched in their own tweaks and additions to the song. “Sorry” was initially written by Drew Struckmeyer two years ago and underwent a similar revision process as it was changed from a solo to a duet.

Up next for Prior Noon is a summer full of performances at events such as the EGR Concerts in the Park and Celadon Concert Series. They will also play at some private events as well as make appearances at the Smyrna Bar and elsewhere. Their last show of the season is will be at the Alto Harvest Fest in September.

For now, though, listeners can catch Prior Noon’s music on YouTube, Spotify or even ask Alexa to play their tunes. Follow the group on Facebook or Instagram for the latest news and performance information.
