Scenes from Lowell: St. Paddy’s Day and More Edition

We'll see you next week Lowell (minus the snow).

It was another great week in Lowell. Area students, in particular, had reason to celebrate at both the start and end of the week.

Lowell area students were able to squeeze in one (hopefully) last snow day as wintery weather blew in early Monday.

Work on the Litehouse expansion is continuing. The company held interviews this past week to fill positions for all shifts.

Mi Hometown Furnishings opened this week in the old Superior Furniture building, but it isn’t the only business that will be in that space. Check out the original boiler from the factory. You can see the restored version when Big Boiler Brewing opens this summer.

Friday brought St. Patrick’s Day and another reason to celebrate. It was, of course, a big event at St. Patrick School where staff and students decked out in green and danced to the Conklin Ceili Band in the afternoon.

Even St. Mary’s Church dyed the cornbread and punch green for their Friday night fish fry.

On Saturday morning, it was time to shift gears and celebrate maple syrup instead as people headed to the Wittenbach Wege Center for the Maple Syrup Days Pancake Breakfast.

Some students weren’t able to enjoy the pancakes because they needed to be at Grand Valley State University for the annual Region 12 Science Olympiad competition. Lowell High School, Lowell Middle School and St. Patrick School all sent teams and all won medals. Let’s do this again next week Lowell (minus the snow).
