The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process. And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Moby is a little go-getter. His D.O.B. is 8/24/17. He is a sweetie pie. He is one adorable little dude. He likes attention, but gets a little nervous until he knows you. He loves to wrestle and play with the cat, so would be great if your cat likes that to. He loves his walks and is good with other little dogs of his size. He can be an escape artist, and really needs a safe area, or physical fence to keep him safe. He really would make an excellent companion, just to hang out with. His curiosity can get him in trouble though.

Lenny was out running the roads, and was super skinny when he made his way to MAS. He is a super sweet, and loving boy. Likes to be by people and does well with older children. Very curious about what you are doing. His D.O.B. is 4/02/14. He likes car rides, and likes to run and play in the play yards. Has done well with his dog introductions. He will need older kids in the home, as he may be nervous of the high energy really young kids can bring.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

It’s “kitten season” and it’s raining kittens!  Most kittens are born in the spring and summer so now is the perfect time to pick out a new buddy.  Kittens become VERY scarce in fall/winter so why not add a little “fur” to the house while the selection is at it’s best!  At Vicky’s Pet Connection, we have lots of happy, healthy kittens (like Lexi, pictured here)  coming in weekly and we’d be happy to help you find just the right match.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Ren is a 10 week old pittie mix who is pretty laid back considering his age! He loves to cuddle with other dogs or humans. He also really enjoys wrestling with his foster brothers and siblings. Ren would benefit from a family who wants to take obedience classes to help him learn to be the best dog he can be. He has done well around cats and loves having a fenced in yard. Due to his age, Ren cannot be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time. He will need a family dedicated to crate training and house training too. Ren is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $300. To adopt Ren apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Meet Chewie (aka Chewbacca) an 8 week old pittie mix puppy. Chewie loves to go, go, go and play until he just has to sleep, but just for bit. Then he gets up and does it again! The perfect home for him would have a fenced in yard to curb his always going adventure seeking; and another friendly well-adjusted dog that he could play with to get some of his energy out and learn proper manners from. He idolizes his foster brothers and sister and wants to do everything they do! Because of his age, Chewie cannot be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time and will need a family who is dedicated to his training. He would benefit greatly from obedience training and continuous positive socialization. He is learning house and crate training; he will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines before adoption. His adoption fee is $300 to adopt Chewie apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application.
